Complete Mix Swine Manure Digester

Permitted for 10,000 head, on average the digester receives manure from 7,500 animals. Digester is 24.4 m (80 feet) in diameter and has a working volume of 1,700 cubic meters (59,000 cubic feet) or 1.7 million L (440,000 gallons). Estimated organic loading rate is 2.4 kg VS per cubic meter - day. Digester is completely mixed for one-half hour every 8 hours. Biogas is used to generate electricity and compressed to run a diesel pickup truck and tractor. Truck uses 80% biogas/20% diesel. Tractor uses 90% biogas/10% diesel. Area farmers are able to fertilize 283 ha (700 acres) of corn with digester effluent using a commercial dragline system.
