Comprehensive simulations of error correction experiments

Comprehensive numerical models will be required to accurately predict the performance of a fault-tolerant quantum memory. In this talk, we discuss the challenges (both physical and computational) in developing these models. We highlight the need for appropriate physical approximations and stress the necessary tradeoff between model detail and numerical scalability.
