Compressing with Gzip and Bzip2 in Linux
Start learning cybersecurity with CBT Nuggets. https://courses.cbt.gg/security In this video, Shawn Powers covers how to compress files with Gzip and Bzip2. He’ll discuss the compress and uncompress processes using both of these tools. You’ll hear Shawn detail how to use those tools with the tar command, allowing you to compress things on the fly. The differences between Gzip and Bzip2 begin with their history. Gzip has been around for quite a bit longer, and Bzip2 is a much newer compression algorithm. Although Bzip2 takes more CPU power, it can compress things to a much greater degree than the older method. Each of these has utility in today’s workplace — the trick is knowing how and when to use each so you can maximize their usefulness. Shawn goes to the command line and illustrates how easy it is to use either of these tools. By the end of the video, you’ll have a firm grasp on what these tools are, their advantages and disadvantages, and feel comfortable in employing either. 📁 Download the Ultimate Sysadmin Cert Guide: https://blog.cbt.gg/s3qn ⬇️ 4-Week Study Plan: MD-100 & MD-101: https://blog.cbt.gg/588q Start learning with CBT Nuggets: • Linux Essentials | https://courses.cbt.gg/45b • Everything Linux | https://courses.cbt.gg/un3 • CompTIA Linux+ (XK0-004) | https://courses.cbt.gg/93y • Linux Security | https://courses.cbt.gg/vu0 • Linux Server Administration | https://courses.cbt.gg/ekv
