I've heard many misconceptions about compressors versus normalization. So, in many ways, this week's Friday show is an effort to clear up the confusion about a compressor and compression being different from normalization. In essence, a compressor decreases the dynamic range of an audio's amplitude while a normalization process just bings all the levels up or down while leaving the dynamic range in tact - completely unchanged.
