Computing Engagement and Awareness Workshop: Session 2
- The Computing Research Association launched the UR2PhD program in efforts to increase the number of quality undergraduate research opportunities and to close the gap between a first research experience and a successful PhD application for women and gender-marginalized groups. This workshop, "What does a career in computing research look like?" is the second of four spring workshops for the Computing Research Engagement and Awareness Workshop Series. The series will provide students with opportunities to learn more about computing research, engage with active researchers, and build community with peers in the field. This informative session intends to encourage folks to think about the various career paths available within computing research, while inspiring folks to think about their own academic and professional journey. This session features a moderated conversation with panelists: - Lexie Yang, Research Scientist in GeoAI Group at Oak Ridge National Laboratory - George Porter, Professor in the Systems and Networking Group in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of California, San Diego. - Dana Nachmanson, Senior Bioinformatics Scientist at TwinStrand Biosciences To learn more about UR2PhD, this workshop series, and/or register for the March 11th session, please visit cra.org/ur2phd
