Concave Convex Graphs
When is a curve concave or convex? We look at how the rate of change of the gradient determines the curvature of the graph. This leads us to the second derivative which we use to find the set of values for which the curve is concave or convex. The example requires the use of the chain rule and the quotient rule, and we give our answer in set notation.
