The glad hands continue to get hit with the fifth wheel plate from the truck. The bulkhead of the curtain system comes out from the trailer so much we have to extend the glad hands so drivers can properly connect their air lines. Because the glad hands are now out further than normal, the fifth wheel plate of the truck will strike the glad hands before the fifth wheel plate of the trailer.
This impact cause damage to the glad hands. The damage is not very evident at first, but at some point, the glad hands will break off the trailer.
