This iron ore mine opened at the beginning of the 20th century by the Asturian Virgilio Fernández, with an area of 60 hectares. It would later be worked by Francisco Vera Vivancos.
In 1959 it was abandoned due to low profitably.
It is located to the west of the places of Las Colmenillas and Las Hermanillas, in the vicinity of the hamlet of El Garrobo, accessing it by a road that starts at km 22 of the RM-3 road (Mazarrón-Totana).
