Controlled Descent [Trailer]

A year ago, I spent four hours and threw my best Parkour clips into a video. That’s standard practice in the Parkour world. Almost like a basketball highlight reel, we put out a video every now and then of our best shit. The accomplishments that made us the most proud. But I didn’t feel proud, very disappointed actually. But not of my movement. The video felt lazy, and for a lack of a less cliche word, extremely uninspired. If I put it out, I’d just be contributing noise into the world. This type of video has been created hundreds of times, something that neatly fit into the Parkour video genre. At the time, I was very inspired deconstruction genre anime. They were shows that understood the tropes of their genre, and systematically broke them to create something more compelling. I wanted to break the Parkour video genre. Tropes are like habits, easy to fall back into unconsciously. So I had to slowly take my time, question every decision I made, making sure everything I did served the story while challenging conventions.
