1. Converting Improper Fractions to Mixed Numbers Improper Fraction: The numerator is larger than the denominator. To convert to a mixed number, divide the numerator by the denominator. Example: Convert 7/4 7 ÷ 4 = 1 remainder 3 So, 7/4 = 1 3/4 2. Converting Mixed Numbers to Improper Fractions To convert, multiply the whole number by the denominator, then add the numerator. Put that number over the original denominator. Example: Convert 2 1/3 2 × 3 = 6 6 + 1 = 7 So, 2 1/3 = 7/3
