Core Training for Rowers
In Level 1, trainees focus on spinal stability with minimal movement: McGill Curl-Up, Side Plank, and Full Tension Plank. In Level 2, trainees add movement at the extremities while maintaining spinal stability: Bird Dog Hold, Dead Bug Variations, Rolling Plank, Side Plank with Row, Stir-the-Pot, and the TRX/Ring Walk. In Level 3, trainees simulate the demands of the rowing stroke by including hip movement around a stable spine: Erg Plank and Stability Ball/Bench Rockback.
