Flight video from the Cal Poly Pomona NASA Student Launch (CPP-NSL) team's launch on competition day, April 8th 2017, in Toney, Alabama.
A servo-mechanical fin aileron control system was used for the Roll Induction Experiment. The system's objective was to roll the vehicle at least two revolutions immediately following motor burnout, then return the vehicle to its natural roll rate recorded at burnout.
The RIS (Roll Induction System) functioned exactly as intended, and was a major accomplishment for the team. Unfortunately, competition placement was not possible since our main parachute did not fully deploy, and the vehicle suffered irreparable damage as a result. Was a fun and fulfilling experience regardless.
