Petr Viktorin and I will be talking about Python's `str` data type (aka "unicode" objects) and possible optimizations we could apply to make it possible for Rust strings to be exchanged with Python more efficiently. We'll dive into the CPython codebase and begin to explore the constraints and possible implementations. This stream is expected to be one of a series of streams (approx one a month) working on this problem. If you're enjoying this content and want more of it, or in general want to support development of PyO3, please consider supporting me at https://github.com/sponsors/davidhewitt If you have feedback or ideas of what you'd like to see for future streams, you can contact me via email (see my channel info), Mastodon, or Twitter. Or put ideas down in the comments below!
