This little video shows how the focused heel can progress. We prefer to make sure the little steps are built on slowly. If he can't heel two steps perfectly why would we try for ten.
We lured the heel first. Then he started to pre-empt. For us, this is good. We roll with it. The lure meets him there and he starts to become the creator. Them he really starts to believe in the behaviour.
Then there is a balancing act between rewarding attitude while trying to create the correct position.
Later, he also must heel even when he'd rather not. But he loves the exercise so this step happens very quickly and due to our NePoPo approach he moves into behaviour with his heart and soul.
