This is my technique and it works rather well. Begin by cleaning the surface as usual. Using 1Shot Pinstriping and lettering enamel thinned just a bit more to help create the effect.
Your design should match the era you are trying to imitate. Many times you see aged Pinstriping that has modern fearures. Do your research before tackling the job. On this truck i based the pinstriping off a design that was popular in the mid 70’s.
After the paint tacks up but is not yet dried sprinkle on talcum powder. Let the artwork dry overnight.
The next day using a cloth rag (old t-shirt material works great!) and some mineral spirits, wipe aggressively until the desired faux patina is achieved..
The talcum powder acts as a flattening agent when combined with the oil base enamel, the finished product should not be glossy. Remember you are trying to imitate time, weather and UV rays..
The finished product should fool the viewer into believing the artwork is original.. ✌🏼
