Yarn pooling, or colour pooling is all the craze at the moment (although it is an old technique). I hadn't heard of it until a few weeks ago. I jumped on the bandwagon and gave it a try. Here is my step by step tutorial. The theory is that any variegated yarn will create an argyle pattern is you use the pooling technique. The different colour sequences and colour lengths will create totally different patterns. There are a number of different methods to create this effect. This is the one that worked best for me, based on colour sequences rather than calculating the number of stitches to begin with. The technique calls for moss stitch. I used a 5 mm cochet hook and 4 ply acrylic yarn.
