Measurement is the comparison of an unknown quantity with the known standard of unit.
There are five (5) base fundamental quantities that exist. These include; Time, Temperature, Mass, Length and Electric Current.
Derived quantities are taken from two (2) or more base quantities. For e.g. Area, Volume, Speed, Acceleration, etc.
Measuring instruments
- Vernier Caliper is a precision measuring instrument used to measure the internal and external dimensions of an object.
- Micrometer Screw Gauge is used to allow precise measurement of small thickness or diameter such as wires, hair and sheet of paper.
