This is a screen capture at Cal Maritime of a Transas simulation of a Conventional Twin Screw tug towing a tanker Ship's speed is about 7 knots. The view is mostly from the advantage point of the winch position on the after deck. The towline is approximately 300 feet long and the tug is not utilizing a gob rope or pins for this exercise. As the tug moves to starboard it gets beyond the point of no return and is capsized by the towline which parts as the strain comes on. The tug does not right itself because of down flooding. The side doors on the tug are presumably open.
