Cyclone Monica pt1

Cyclone Monica was one of the strongest cyclones to hit Australia. The date was the 24th or April 2006, it packed 328km/h winds at 805HPA. This is a home video that captures some of the events during and after the cyclone in the amazing community of Maningrida. Please be aware that some of the people in this video have now passed away, especially for indigenous people. The way the community got together with minimal support from anywhere is a testament to the quality of the people and services that were driven by the community itself. This is a 4 part series. There are embarrassing moments but it captures an amazing spirit of the people. This captures mainly the cyclone, cleanup, drive around the community, aerial flight to where the eye hit (like a nuclear bomb went off) and mates hanging out.
