The four basic kinematic equations for one-dimensional motion with constant velocity are derived. We start by analyzing three cases: constant position, constant velocity, and then constant nonzero acceleration. Each of the four basic equations intentionally has one of the four variables x, v, a, and t missing. Such a collection of formulas gives more power in solving problems depending on what is given and what we need to solve for.
