Danuser MD-5 Post Driver (In Action)
Before purchasing a Post Pounder, I spent a fair amount of time trying to research how the Danuser MD-5 driver actually worked…. Uploading this video to help others. Pros: - Very simple construction - Can be found used at a fair price - Can be operated as a single-person operation - Did great (for me) pounding in 2’3/8 oil pipe in ground that has not seen rain in 30+ days. - The precision (again for me) is better than a hydraulic mounted pounder on a skid loader…. I always felt like the loader was pushing the post forward. The free-weight drop of the Danuser MD-5 pounder allows for consistent post driving & allows you to stay on the level much easier. :) Cons: - Ground slope can act as a challenge. Pounder can can adjust front-to-back angle with 3-point adjustment, but limited on left-to-right rotation tilt. - Not a lot of extra safety … operator needs to always be paying attention. - Pinning the weight up can be challenging. I was excited to use this when I first got it & after my first stretch of fence… And I am excited to use it on the next 1,000 feet….
