LUMINAR SUMMER SALE See description below for details Dark Processing in Luminar 4.2 A slightly misleading title but processing your images darker means it has to happen in the camera before it even reaches the editing stage. In this video I’ll show you my editing process in Luminar 4.2 and talk you through my considerations before the editing process begins, at the point of capture. This involves exposing to the right so that your sensor gathers as much dynamic range as possible without clipping the highlights. Your shadows have retained detail so that when you process darker they don’t turn to mush and you can control a darker style of edit. Although we all shoot differently I hope you will enjoy the editing process involved here. I could have gone even darker with the edit but as this is one image from a sequence of stacked images I would have lost the aforementioned detail had I done so. I hope the tutorial, although a long one helps you consider these things when next out photographing. Think about the editing process and what you hope to achieve with the image and photograph accordingly. I hope you enjoy the tutorial as it’s a good way of thinking about your edit before you take the shot. EXPLORE. IMAGINE. CREATE. thats the key. Once you have the idea then it's just the process. There are many ways to create your images and its fun to try different things with your images.I hope the methods shown in this tutorial are useful to you in creating your own. Its really worth exploring the software and seeing what it can do and as well as that letting your imagination run free :) It’s good to think outside the box at times and just experiment with what you can do with your software. The focus of the tutorial is not the final image but the process involved to get there. Try the techniques for yourself and see what happens, if you like them use it in the future.
