Dark Skies Camp Loop
Over the Memorial Day Weekend, we camped at Harry Swartz Campground at Middle Fork River Preserve in Champaign County. They added some new sites to the loop along with the Dark Sky Trail. They added 11 "Dark Sky Friendly" campsites. These sites offer unobstructed sky views for the serious stargazer. On November 19, 2018, Middle Fork River Forest Preserve became the first International Dark Sky Park in Illinois. The goal of a Dark Sky Park is to preserve the night sky and educate the public about light pollution, as well as how they can make a positive impact. We wanted to update our video of the camp sites in the loop. This video should give you a good idea of what the sites look like if you have not been there before. ***Note some of the context in the description has been taken from the following website: https://www.champaignforests.org/Forest-Preserves/Locations/Middle-Fork-River/Harry-L-Swartz-Campground You can also reserve a campsite at the link above. Maybe we will see you down there.
