Data Dimensions presents "Harnessing Data for City Management"

Join MS in Data Analytics and Policy Program Director Collin Paschall for a discussion with Dave Gottesman, Rockville, Maryland’s Assistant City Manager. Gottesman will detail of the scope of his project and performance management roles across the city’s departments and services – including procurement, information technology, and emergency management – as well his strategic planning and special projects oversight that impacts the city’s 70,000 residents. Prior to his current role, Gottesman served as the CountyStat Manager for Montgomery County, Maryland (pop. 1,062,000), in the Office of the County Executive and the Office of Management and Budget. There, he spent a decade leading the County's performance management and data analytics team to drive accountability, transparency, and the strategic use of data to monitor and improve the performance, effectiveness, and efficiency of public services. He also served from 2008 to 2012 as the Director of Budget and Performance Management for the Town of North Hempstead, New York (pop. 230,000). A member of the International City/County Management Association’s Performance Management Advisory Committee, Gottesman is a former Government Finance Officers Association member and a former Local Government Fellow with Results for America. He holds an MPA in Public and Nonprofit Management from NYU’s Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service, a BA in Journalism from the University of Maryland, College Park, and a Certified Public Manager accreditation from the Metropolitan Washington Council of Government’s Institute for Regional Excellence, where he returns annually to teach new cohorts.
