David Archuleta rose to fame at 16 on American Idol while being seen as a “poster boy” for the Mormon Church. In his new memoir Devout: Losing My Faith to Find Myself, he shares what was really happening behind the scenes. He shares his experiences with three failed engagements, serving a mission in Chile, struggling with “same-sex attraction,” experiencing deep shame around his identity, and attempting to reconcile his sexuality with Mormon doctrine.
