David the Future King
Took a while but finally got a nice campfire song about the great and mighty David. Adding his past duel with Goliath , and foreshadowing of his future Kingdom and his knowledge of Christ all in one. My father helped me perfect this one with both harmonies, vocals and editing on the lyrics. Enjoy and God bless Lyrics In the days of Old when God rose up a King a war broke out between Israel and the Phili-steens Out in a valley, two armies awaiting the dawn. A giant stood mightily, a battle was drawn, With his voice like thunder, and his armor so bright, Both armies held their breath, awaiting a fight He dared the people of God to a duel and no man step forward making the king look like a fool. The King being filled with doubt and fear cried out.. Is there any man ,who will face this beast? Let it be known this day.. much wealth, no more taxes and even my daughter... - I will pay Then one shepherd boy not yet fully grown, Stepped out and bowed before the throne and David said - With my sling in my hand! my heart of Holy Fire! I know God’s strength will never expire! "I've fought the lion and the bear," he cried, "The Lord has been with me all along This giant's body will soon be meat for the beasts of the field where he belongs!" Then they laughed him to Scorn. The king however could see the fire in his eyes, A future king he was ...in disguise Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil I will fight for the Lord my God and for my people Praise God and amen He is the one who will defend Then David shouted to the Giant You come at me with a spear in your hand, But I come with the Lord and His power will stand Today, this battle is already won! Not by my hand, but by God’s only Son! Then Goliath filled with rage rushed the young man with terror and a spear who could withstand? Immediately David, by God's mighty hand, Took up his stone and with his sling, And with that one shot, silenced everything. As the sun set low, the army stood stunned, Goliath had fallen, the battle was won. David stood there, just a boy in the light, But in his eyes, there was a fire so bright. Not taking the chance for time he couldn't afford He rushed to the fallen giant and took out his sword One strike he took the giant’s head; The army saw while trembling, fled. though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil I will fight for the Lord my God and for my people Praise God and amen He is the one who will defend From the valley of fear to the mountain of praise, David’s name shines through the passing of days. The man after Gods own heart Now lift up your voices, like David of old, Go out and share the Gospel and be Bold Taking on the giants of today, let no man tell thee nay! Remember, ..Remember the Lord our God Amen. ....and amen
