Shalom!! And welcome back to Day 243 of reading the Bible in 52 weeks!! Whoooo!! I’m Sarah ((: Ezekiel 19: TheLioness and Whelps (vv. 1–9): Uses a metaphor to describe Judah’s kings. The "lioness" (Judah) raises whelps (kings) who become fierce, but are trapped and taken captive to Egypt (Jehoahaz) and Babylon (Jehoiachin). The Ruined Vine (vv. 10–14): Compares Israel to a once-fruitful vine that is now dried up, torn up, and scorched by fire, signaling that the nation has no strong leaders left and faces total desolation. [Ezekiel 20: The History of Israel's Rebellion] A History of Defiance (vv. 1–32): In response to elders asking for a word from God, Ezekiel reviews Israel's past, emphasizing that they rebelled in Egypt, the wilderness, and the Promised Land by worshipping idols and neglecting the Sabbath. Judgment and Restoration (vv. 33–44): God declares He will rule them with a "mighty hand" and bring them into the wilderness to purge the rebels. He promises to eventually gather a purified remnant to worship Him on His holy mountain. Prophecy Against the South (vv. 45–49): A warning that fire will consume both the green and dry trees in the south [Ezekiel 21: The Sword of Babylon] The Drawn Sword (vv. 1–17): God announces that His "sword" (Babylon) is coming to cut off both the righteous and wicked, meaning destruction for all in Jerusalem. Nebuchadnezzar’s Decision (vv. 18–27): The King of Babylon stops at a fork in the road and uses divination to decide between attacking Rabbah or Jerusalem. God directs him to Jerusalem, where the "prince of Israel" (Zedekiah) is dethroned and the crown is removed until the rightful one (the Messiah) comes. Judgment on Ammon (vv. 28–32): A prophecy against the Ammonites, who are also destroyed by the Babylonian sword. Verse of the day: You know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. —1 Peter 1:18-19 Jesus loves you! ✝️
