In this beginner's tutorial, I will show you the basics of Geneious. Geneious is a powerful program for visualizing and manipulating your molecular sequence data. We will take a look at the interface and how to import genomic data. I will also show you de novo assembly as well as Contig and Consensus sequences are and how contigs in the genome can be exported and saved as different file formats such as fasta. This is an offline tool for assembly but the internet is required while importing data from National Center for Biotechnology Information NCBI. This can be used to from Blast after importing data from NCBI or Uniprot. After alignment of the file, the Alignment of sequences can be used for Phylogenetic Tree construction that can either be Neighbor-joining or UPGMA. Also, this tool is useful in designing primers and cloning.
