They key is to prevent them from happening and if you do develop them then knowing how to remove them properly. Trichoptilosis, known as split ends, happens when the end of your hair splits or frays. After time this split will extend itself further up the hair which weakens the hairs itself. Breakage will occur as well as the appearance of frizzy hair. It's never a good look. Keeping your beard from drying out is the key to preventing split ends. Regular use of beard oil will help hydrate, condition, and moisturize your beard which will create a protective barrier. Using a high quality comb is important so you don't create split ends due to combing. Over combing through out the day should also be avoided. When washing your beard, shampoos that contain chemicals, detergents, and surfractants should be avoided. Using an all natural shampoo or beard wash is recommended in order to avoid excessive drying. When drying off your beard after a shower the use of a blow dryer or hair dryer should be avoided. Pat drying with a towel is much easier on your beard. To remove split ends in your beard a simple small trim will be needed. Just be sure to cut above where the split end starts.
