Dear Loretta
(Based on an original composition) Dear Loretta, I wrote you this letter... Though we're no longer together, this was the only place I could gather These thoughts that still haunt me over how things ended For a while, my world was upended Our long distance connection left me overextended Gradually over time, I felt things go cold Crazy how I used to picture us getting old Now it’s memories fading in a house we ain’t built Conversations turning into silence and guilt We were fighting the miles, but the miles never cared And love started slipping every time we compared Different clocks, different days, different ways that we coped I was holding on tight, you were losing your hope And I can’t even blame you, yeah I played my part too Guess the distance exposed what we tried to outdo Now I’m sitting with the weight of the words we ain’t say And the plans that we drew slowly drifting away Still I hope when you heal, you find peace in your soul— Even if I’m not there when your story feels whole
