Decentralization is not the goal
It's the means, and the goal is censorship resistance. Blockchain has come a long way in the past decade and a half. What began as a fringe pursuit for enthusiasts with strong philosophical and political motivations is now edging closer to mainstream adoption. But with that growth comes tension. The direction blockchain is heading may not sit well with its earliest advocates. In this video, I reflect on decentralization, not as the goal of blockchain, but as a solution to deeper problems such as censorship resistance and system resilience. Much like the early internet was designed to survive attacks on centralized command centers, decentralization in blockchain emerged as a practical response to real risks, and not an end in itself. As the industry evolves, it’s important to recognize this shift in perspective. The conversation is moving from ideology to practicality, from dreams of radical decentralization to solutions that fit mainstream needs. The question now is: can blockchain grow up without losing the spark that made it revolutionary in the first place? https://blockchaingandalf.substack.com/p/decentralization-is-not-the-goal?utm_source=youtube
