This is the 8th in a series of videos - 'deconstructing cataract surgery' - designed to help surgeons in training develop a solid foundation in cataract surgery technique. Here we focus on a simple technique using dispersive OVD and a 27G needle. Keep the flap flat, keep the anterior chamber deep, and keep the focus good. Moving the rhexis around beneath the main entry site first reduces the risk of capsule prolapse as you deepen with OVD. Using the entry site as a scale bar provides a good reference for consistent rhexis sizing.
