You refuse to block because it feels passive, BUT blocking creates your offense. Here's why defense wins rounds.
Blocking does three things:
- Creates punish opportunities (unsafe moves = free damage)
- Builds awareness (you see their patterns)
- Forces mistakes (opponents overcommit)
When to block:
- You're minus (not your turn)
- Opponent is pressuring with blockstrings
- You have no meter for reversal
Practice drill: Block a full blockstring without mashing.
