Deformation Gradient | Continuum Mechanics | with simple examples
The Deformation Gradient allows us to decompose the general motion into more information on the shape change (think of shear, elongation, bending etc.). For this we have to derive the motion w.r.t. the reference configuration. Here you can find the notes: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Ceyron/machine-learning-and-simulation/main/english/continuum_mechanics/continuum_mechanics_deformation_gradient.pdf To understand this concept, we will look at two examples, a simple one and a more complicated one ------- 📝 : Check out the GitHub Repository of the channel, where I upload all the handwritten notes and source-code files (contributions are very welcome): https://github.com/Ceyron/machine-learning-and-simulation 📢 : Follow me on LinkedIn or Twitter for updates on the channel and other cool Machine Learning & Simulation stuff: https://www.linkedin.com/in/felix-koehler and https://twitter.com/felix_m_koehler 💸 : If you want to support my work on the channel, you can become a Patreon here: https://www.patreon.com/MLsim ------- Timestamps: 00:00 Opening 00:11 Repetition Motion and Configuration 01:50 Motivation for the Deformation Gradient 02:37 Definition 03:45 Example 1 05:59 Example 2 08:37 Important Remarks 09:26 End-Card
