Delta Sharing - Databricks-to-Databricks Protocol

Need to share Delta tables (and more) securely between Unity Catalog-enabled Databricks workspaces? In this video, Zane Goodman walks through Databricks-to-Databricks Delta Sharing, what it is, why it’s different from other Delta Sharing options, and how to implement it end-to-end. You’ll learn how this protocol enables governed sharing across metastore boundaries (even across clouds like Azure/AWS/GCP), without the typical token-management pain. Zane demonstrates the full workflow: creating a Share (tables + optional assets like notebooks), creating a Recipient, retrieving the Recipient Sharing Identifier (SQL or UI), granting the share, and then completing the recipient-side setup by mounting the share into a catalog. He also breaks down the privilege model (metastore admin vs granting minimal permissions), the risks of allowing catalog creation broadly, and what changes when you share outside your organization (including the external-sharing metastore setting).
