Demolition Man G11

Demolition Man was filmed and released in 1993 and features a mock-up of an HK G11 as the 'Magnetic Accelerator Gun'. The scope is replaced by a visible red aiming laser and of course the film-universe weapon fires something much more potent than 4.7mm caseless. It has long been a common theme in Hollywood for the very latest designs of firearms with unusual functions and/or aesthetics to be used as props in Sci-Fi settings. The G11 of course fits that criteria. I am not an expert on the rifle by any means, but the variant that was moulded for use in the film looks similar to a later G11 K2 model. Potentially a piece that was used in the ACR trials run by the US Army during the late 1980s (at least that's one explanation which seems plausible to me).
