This video relates to chapter 6 of our textbook and introduces concepts to analyze and configure global value chains. It was recorded by Fang Zheng. It introduces global value chain typologies based on the manuscript by Gereffi/Humphrey/ Sturgeon 2005: The governance of global value chains. Review of International Political Economy, 12, 78-104. In this part, please think of the introduced aspects (complexity of transaction, ability to codify transactions and capabilities of the supply base) as determinants. That is, if the complexity of the transaction is high, certain types of global value chains are more appropriate.
