Devastation Trail was closed when we visited Hawaii Volcanoes National Park BUT you can still park at the trailhead & walk the road back to see Kilauea. So that's what we did! It's a easy, flat 1.5 miles back to the crater. The drive back is closed too because of cracks in the road so you'll have a great surface to walk on. This walk should only take you 15-20 minutes each way. Once you get there, you'll have a closer look of Kilauea than you do at the Kilauea Overlook on the other side of the crater. As you'll see, it's well worth the walk!
