In this video lecture, we develop a model with coupled differential equations and multiple state variables. Specifically, the model is a chemical reactor (CSTR) with variable volume. The model contains a volume balance, a material balance on the reactant (A), and a material balance on the product (B). This results in three differential equations which we must solve simultaneously.
