Digital and Mining - The Reality

Speaker: Mr. Matthew Lengerich, General Manager - Digital Transformation at Rio Tinto The Talk Digital has become the new frontier in mining, with nearly every project, improvement and budget depending on a changes driven by software, technology or data. In this session we will look at some of the emerging trends that have led to this reality and discuss specific use cases where digital technologies are improving business objectives. Participants will learn what digital transformation has resulted in at large, active mining operations and what characteristics lead to successful transformation efforts. The Speaker Matthew (Matt) Lengerich has spent the majority of his twenty-one years with Rio Tinto leading operational and technical roles in their energy, aluminum, copper and iron ore businesses. During his career Matt has worked across all facets of mining - engineering, operations, maintenance, projects and commercial. In his latest role, Matt is leading the digital transformation of Rio Tinto, using digital technologies to deliver business objectives in large, global, complex mining operations.
