Dissonant Ambience in Irregular Temperaments
#xenharmonic #darkambient #datasonification An experiment with intervals determined by odd functions: x^3 and its inverse x^(1/3). Method: The three intersection points for the two functions determined the frequency range. The lowest y-value became the lowest note (55 Hz), the center/origin (220 Hz), and the highest y-value became (880 Hz). Each function was then divided into 49 intervals spanning a four-octave range. This video features both functions sonified simultaneously by pressing a single note on the keyboard. The data from the note was programmed to trigger randomly generated dyads along both curves -- resulting in a series of intentionally undefined tetrads of ridiculous variety. A Dissonance Delight!
