In this experiment, we will use distillation to separate a mixture of two volatile liquids with different boiling points. We will use both simple and fractional distillation to separate the liquids in an unknown mixture. We will construct a graph of distillation temperature versus volume of distillate collected, which will allow for approximation of boiling points. We will also use gas chromatography to compare the results from the simple and fractional distillations.
