DIY Folding Squat Rack - Hinges & J-Hooks
I receive a huge amount of requests for more information on how I made the hinges for my garage folding rack (watch the squat rack build here: Folding Home Garage Rack/Gym Build - DIY Squat and Bench Rig https://youtu.be/gHFf6mXLz9s) Hinges (link to design below): So basically, it's just 2 pieces of steel the same width as the arms, welded at 90 degrees to a base plate. Very importantly, you'll see I left a 5-10mm space above and below the arm, this is what allows you to lift the upright ever so slightly to swing it against the wall. Overall dimensions: Uprights: 2500mm Arms: 1050mm Width apart: based on a standard Olympic barbell - 1100mm Hole spacing: 50mm for squat, 25mm for bench press Design: You can get your hands on my design files which include all of the major dimensions here: https://www.barbellsbbqbeer.com/product-page/squat-rack-design-files Or, if you just don't have the time or tools, you could simply order one online through a reputable gym equipment supplier.
