I normally talk you through the steps in my videos, since I'm not really a fan of video tutorials with no voice. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to speak clearly since I had a jaw surgery a few months ago (I'm OK though!). I'll be back to making videos with voice overs in five or six months. About the Video ________________________________ This video shows the process of moving and docking GIMP's Dockable Dialogs into the Toolbox Window. I probably get help requests for troubleshooting the Dockable Dialogs more than any other problem. 90% of the time, the problem is that dialogs won't dock properly to the Toolbox. So, if you're having issues, it's not just you! Luckily, the problem is usually just that you're not grabbing the dialog in the right place when you try to drag and drop it into the Toolbox. I've covered that, and more in this video. What are Dockable Dialogs? ________________________________ Dockable Dialogs are a cool feature in GIMP that let you customize your GIMP windows. Dialogs are basically just groups of tool options. For example, there's the Layers Dialog, which has options and settings for using layers. And there's the Tool Options Dialog, which is a dynamic dialog that shows options and settings for whichever tool you're using at the time. If you grab the Paintbrush Tool, it will show you Paintbrush Tool options. And, if you grab the Eraser Tool, it will show you Eraser Tool settings. You I like to keep the Layers Dialog, and the Tool Options Dialog docked to the bottom of my Toolbox Window so they're easy to access. You might already have the Tool Options Dialog at the bottom of your Toolbox by default. If you grab a tool like the Paintbrush, and you can see options for it in the lower half of the Toolbox, like brush size and color, you know you've already got the Tool Options Dialog in your Toolbox. No need to add it again. In fact, you won't be able to add it again!
