Does Bleach Remove Chrome?

How do you remove chrome from parts? I saw that bleach was an option so I gave this a try. In many forums I saw people say that soaking a part in bleach would eventually dissolve the chrome. This is something that would be awesome if true. it can be very challenging to refinish parts that have rusted chrome. Something as easy as dipping a part in bleach for a few days would be fantastic. Although I am pretty skeptical. Turns out, bleach only corrodes the part quicker. Apparently, you can remove chrome from plastic parts like for model kit building.
