In this video I’m testing some liquid thread compound on a radiator to see if it leaks! I thought I would construct this video with no edit whatsoever so you can see in real time exactly what happens when we use liquid PTFE so the idea behind this video was to show you how long it takes to cure and how quickly you can fill the system up and get some pressure and water behind it. I’ve used this product for a long time now. I’ve never seen a problem on any of my jobs using it. You have to make sure that the threads are clean and dry. You can’t use liquid thread locker on radiators which have got moisture inside of them. It works after zero oxygen so as soon as the fitting is tight, it starts going off. You need to be quick with it. You need to get it tight as quick as possible and don’t move it afterwards as the cure process has already come in. I like to make sure that I give the bottle of a good shake before I apply it. I like to apply it to the mail threads and spread it evenly across using my finger also getting a little bit in the female threads just for extra measure. Let me know in the comments what you use on your radiators and your fittings it’s interesting to see how many people don’t actually trust liquid PTFE take but personally I’ve never had a problem so that’s why I use it. If you’d like today’s Plumbing video, please give it a like comment down below. Tell me what are you using and how you make up your fittings subscribe if you and I’ll see you on the next one.
