I lost 50 pounds on a high carb, low fat diet. I wasn't eating processed sugar but rather dates and fruit and sweet potato. The key seems to be the "low fat" element. Saturated fat interferes with both glucose uptake by cells and insulin production. If you don't interfere with your body gobbling up the glucose and burning it you might see some impressive results. If you have any health issues it would be best to run it by your doctor first.
