Dopamine (Drum Solo)

Mental Health + Drum Rant alert! It's interesting how my state of feeling can influence how we express ourselves - mine has always been music - especially drums! However as I'm spent the last 6 -7 very slowly tapering of my anti psychotic medication that I take alongside a mood medication for my bi polar. They did actually save my life, but so other things, and one of the my earliest saviours was drums, I remember playing them for hours a day when I was 14, but unfortunately when I was 15 my mind fell apart (maybe it could've happened sooner if I didn't have my drum therapy), and it took a very long time to piece it back! Medication saved me, but it came with a heavy price tag, not for the bank fortunately I'm a Kiwi and we get affordable health care, I'm more talking about the decades of side effects I've had to endure, all the dulling and slowing mechanisms that seem to unfortunately come with the majority of psychiatric medications, especially antipsychotic's which I needed to help hold me together, I'd tried many a time to taper off but it never worked, but now with the small reduction per year - it seems to be finally working (not without a glitch, but I'm staying sane, along with a supportive family, and a good mood stabiliser medication, a good job, and lots of music being made. Now at 38 and a family man, I feel safe and happy, and glad that I'm getting my brain back to where it needs to be. Now listen to this ridiculous drum solo - I call "Dopamine"! Tempo is kind Random as it's all improv, but I feel I'm feeling more comfortable with faster tempos as dose go's lower, which I'm so glad of it wasn't until I started this taper that I realised that the medication would make my tempo drag once the inevitable tiredness sat in (yes even when I spent months playing click tracks you drum nerds!) , which would last the rest of the day when I ran out steam, much too quickly.
