Douglas Brubaker: Uses a single-cell transcriptomic meta-atlas to challenge the established dogma surrounding endometriosis. Instead of Estrogen Receptor (ER) beta dominating, the data reveals ER alpha is broadly dominant across most disease tissues. Importantly, ER alpha's function actively shifts in diseased states, moving from MAPK activation to suppressing HLA-associated genes, potentially helping lesions evade immune surveillance.
