Draftsight Dimensions Change
Objective: Using CAD software students will be able to change the units for the dimensions, create a simple rectangle, and create layers in their drawings by watching a short video tutorial that explains the process. Explanation: Many students in my class have expressed that they are having difficulty understanding how to change dimensions from engineering units to architectural units. They also have difficulty understanding the command window and layers. This video will help clear up some of the confusion my students have with Draftsight (the CAD software we use) Break Down: Opening Introduction: • Kiser intro that grabs their attention and brands the video Part 1 - Rectangle command window overview: • A brief overview of the command window using the Rectangle. This will help build on prior knowledge to prepare students for future learning. • Use highlight feature and zoom feature to be sure students focal point is on the command window Part 2 -- Dimension unit changing: • Define the problem: Engineering dimension need to be architectural. • Show the solution to the problem. • Use zoom windows to create focal points Part 3 -- Layers Manager: • Use proper both lingo and linguistic expression to bring attention to layers manager. I.E. tell students what the button looks like as well as zoom in on the layers button (many students have trouble finding the layers manager) Extras: Import CC background music that will help create a rythmatic approach and hide background noise.
